Parents furious after 16-year-old girl handcuffed by police at school leavers’ event

The parents of a 16-year-old girl handcuffed and taken to a police station following an incident at a high school leavers’ event have slammed how the situation was handled.

Police were called to Ormiston Horizon Academy in Stoke-on-Trent after a number of GCSE students barred from the celebration refused to leave the grounds after turning up anyway. 

The youths had a stand-off with school staff because they wanted to get their shirts signed and to say goodbye to other pupils.
