It’s pretty standard verbiage for an epidemic. And this is a comic book universe, Marvel heroes deal with global-level threats several times a month, I can’t even begin to put a number on how many epidemics and pandemics (natural, anomalous, or weaponized) they’ve dealt with over the years.
